'AI-Enhanced Self-Portraits' is a 4-week online course exploring AI and a magical and transformative journey. I'll guide you to blend the timeless art of self-portraiture with the thrilling possibilities of AI. This course is more than just a learning experience; it's an exploration of technology, art and the self.

What the course covers:

Week 1: Diving into the rich history of self-portraits and understanding their significance in the history of art followed by a gentle step into the world of text-to-image AI, starting with fun and simple exercises using midjourney. The first creative challenge: crafting a first AI-generated self-portrait!

Week 2: A deep intro into midjourney's parameters, unlocking new ways to express beauty and aesthetics. Using both midourney and chatGPT, you'll experiment with various styles, leading to the second creative challenge: creating an abstract or stylized self-portrait that's uniquely you.

Week 3: Exploration of the connection between AI and personal creativity, pushing the boundaries of what's possible. You'll learn about the possibilities and limitations of AI, and you'll learn advanced prompting techniques to elevate your images. This week's creative challenge: a storytelling self-portrait that speaks your truth.

Week 4: Curation of your self-portraits based on your personal aesthetic and visual goals. Using all techniques from the previous weeks, you will continue creating self-portraits and then curate your final self-portrait which speaks the language of your 'right now'. You will reflect on your artistic path and document it with the help of text-to-text AI (chatGPT).

What do you need:

• around 60-90 minutes per week to work through the lessons, plus as much time as you want to dedicate for the creative challenges
• internet access
• a basic subscription to midjourney (starting at 10 USD/month, subscriptions can be cancelled monthly)
• a free account with chatGPT
• (optional) a free account to Canva for organising and brainstorming your image collection
• curiosity and openess to self-reflection and new technology

What you don't need:

• technical knowledge or experience with AI. If you can send an email, you will be ready. We will start with the very basics!
• any sort of art or art history knowledge. All necessary and helpful information will be in the lessons.
